About 3 years ago we started to support the Jamie Carragher Sports & Learning Academy. This academy aims to give opportunities to school leavers and young people in the North West of England. With a focus on getting 16-19 year-olds to study for a BTEC Level 2 & 3 Extended Diploma in Sport.
As we are also based in Bootle. We have been aware of the work of the Sports & Learning Academy have been doing in the area. And the opportunity it gives young people to experience football in a variety of different settings.
How Does the Academy Provide Sporting Opportunities?
In order to give delegates the coaching and playing opportunities they need to attain their qualifications. The academy has its own football team which competes in a variety of competitions. Including the Merseyside College League.
They also take this a step further, by playing top teams from other countries. Giving the students the chance to compete at the highest possible level. One of the regular trips the college now makes is to Norway. And this year Asset Training decided they would like to contribute something towards to the trip.
How Did Asset Training Get Involved?
Each year the football kit the team wear is fully numbered and usually has a sponsor on the front. The kit has a sponsor as this is how the money for the kit is raised to purchased it. So Asset decided that in 2018 we would provide the sponsorship for the team and the kit.
The feedback we have had so far from young people involved was very positive. And because of this the board at Asset Training have decided that we would like to contribute further sponsorship to the next annual trip that the football team takes!
As the photo at the top shows we recently met up with Jamie Carragher. This was to review how the football team and, more importantly, our kit fared out in Norway!
If you are thinking of starting an apprenticeship, and would like further information or guidance contact Asset Training today for expert advice.
